Dungeon Defenders Review – Hari

In short this game is vividly made with many many many options…. There is honestly quite a lot in this game. Good thing about this game is you can play a single player mode or you can play with online with your friends. This is a simple tower defence strategy game and another thing about this game is you always have a challenge waiting…Dungeon Defenders is a filled to the brim with dozens – if not nearly hundreds – of hours of 3D tower defense mayhem. Additionally, the PlayStation Network version provides full HD Stereoscopic 3D technology and PlayStation Move controller support. Dungeon Defenders is rated PEGI 12+ and is available for download now on Xbox LIVE®Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points, on PlayStation Network and Steam for £7.99. The game:
Dungeon Defenders has four hero characters: wizard, squire, huntress, and monk and you can choose to play any character you like. All we have to do is to defend the crystal (or core) against incoming waves of hordes in the dungeon. The games increases difficulty with increase in waves (levels) and when the character you choose has to defend more than 1 crystal in a single wave; this is where online playing comes in you can play with your friends to complete a wave.

The incoming hordes will try to destroy your core crystal and you have to defend them. They get in the dungeon with gigantic gates which means they pour in….they then split into several groups and they will try to take in all the paths in to the dungeon, which leads to the core. As the game hero we have to use our characters to identify the gaps and stop the enemies to come in. It is easy to describe but not so easy when we play. There are options to have a top view of the map which will help you to set defense towers, it also helps when you are playing so that you know where the enemies are and where you are going.

Each of the four characters we choose has their unique fighting styles and skills out of which huntress is a bit difficult character to play with, I felt so..and I played this game with monk. Monk is the type of character you love to play with.

We need to buy tower, aura every level with the mana we collected. Mana is crystal, which will be dropped by the enemies when they are killed, and there are some chests, which has the same. We can explore the chest and extract the mana.

This game has two phases in every wave, build phase and combat. In build phase we have to build defense, repair the towers or upgrade and combat phase is where the enemies attack the core and we have to defend them. Good thing in this game is we can build in the combat phase as well, but at the phase names as combat you will fight more and build less. This can only be possible with multiplayer online mode.
By playing with all the four characters we can use the collected mana’s for any character so this is another advantage. Though the initial levels might feel like the enemies are more powerful, but when our character keeps fighting the waves his skills and stats improves. When the wave is completed your enemies leave armour suits, staves, swords and other weapons apart from mana crystals on the field. We can collect these and can improve our characters statistics. When you try to pick them there us a thumbs up and down icon to shows “is it better or worse” compared to what we already own and use……this is good isn’t it.

Lets rate the rest of the review in short.

Thumbs up

Good difficulty levels
Quite lot of challenges to play in this game
No brutality
Not easy campaign stages to play in single player mode

Thumbs down

Response of the heroes to your control is not good. Lazy super heroes.
The character we play auto targets the enemies and there is no thrill.
Some times the game feels too easy but, end of the wave we feel it is not possible to complete the wave by single player.
Even though this game has some thumbs down, it is perfectly marketed for the age group who will love this.

Lets see how this scores in my rating:
Characters 7/10
Character movement / animation: 5/10
Animation in general 5/10
Game play and levels 9/10
Options and guide 7/10
Environment of the dungeon (with defense) 4/10 some times there is no space for battlefield
Online player mode 9/10
Overall 7.5 / 10
