Worms Crazy Golf Review

The Worms franchise was first released back in the 90′s when I was in my 20′s .. >GULP< OMG how old do I feel now BUT for a series to have lasted this long it must have something unique and fun to keep it going all this time, lets carry on with their latest incarnation of Worms Crazy Golf.

First of all I must point out I absolutely hate golf.. its bores the living teets off me and I have moobs! But I love the worms series so I wanted to try it out, I am so pleased I did read on to find out why.

Main Screen

You have choices of Career / Challenges / Trophy Room

In Career you initially had 3 main courses, Britannia, Pirate Cavern,
Graveyard – But as from the 26th of October you have downloadable
course called Carnival, download this from outside the game as it does
now show when you try to do it with the in-game link.

The initial difference between the normal artillery based game and Worms Crazy Golf is that your worm cannot move, you don’t have artillery and you can twat sheep and turn them into chops!!!!
The sheep on the levels if you hit your ball near them it will head over to it aqnd eat it giving you a penalty, which is a lil annoying at times lol….
The more you play the more items you unlock such as a watch that enables you to slow down time to gain more bonus points, Blast shot which super blasts your shots.. I am not going to go much into it further as i beleive it will spoil the gmae for you.

You as in normal golf have to navigate your way around obstacles to get your ball in a hole, fair enough you say, but with worms its not that easy you need to collect coins and crates and earn bonus points along the way whilst getting that lil ball in the hole on par or under par. My first take on each of the courses is that they all appear to be easy.. but some of the crates are nigh on impossible to get i have spent over 5 hours trying to get 1 crate on a map on Britannia… grrrr

You can unlock further holes within the course buy finishing the course on par or under par, that said you can keep repeating the course so you can collect the many coins and bonus crates along the way which boost your ever loving achievement score. Being a total whore for Playstation trophies I love the fact that I can go back through the whole to earn more and more muhahahahh!!!!

Within The Challenges Screen you have the following:

Skill Shot – Where you need to destroy targets in sequence against the clock, this one is hard work as it progresses

Time Attack – You need to clear all of the targets as quickly as possible, but by using clever shots you can destroy more than one target at a time

Chip in – Chip onto the green to gain time and keep going for as long as possible, each shot brings a new location.

Target – Land your ball inside the coloured zones as fast as you can to score points, this one has limited shots so use them wisely

Keep Ups – Strike the ball and keep it moving for as long as possible, this ones harder than it sounds…

Then in the trophy room is all your glorious trophies you can boast to all of your friends..

Ok next up is

HOT SEAT MULTIPLAYER

This has to be my favourite as i love to play with friends gaming, it Sadly lacks PS3 multiplayer but local play is good..

You can customise golfers within this mode and customise the game type, all is so much fun you can hardly put it down….

To sum up Worms Crazy Golf is an amazing game it sadly lacks the so needed multiplayer that should by rights be in every game of this genre by now and for that reason it only gets a 8 out of 10.

Game play 8/10: Love this game Love the fact that you have to work out different ways of getting to your goal

Graphics 8/10: True to the style of worms the graphics always have a place in my heart

Sound 7/10: The music well… errm repetitive but you can switch off to it.

Overall 8/10: well worth taking a look, it’s a nice to change to all the current games out there.
